Frequently Asked Questions

No, Renderly just sends the different sections to the render queue, you will still need to setup the output module and directory for each queued item.

As long as the marker has a duration it can be used as a render marker.

📖 Extended treatment information:

How will this script save me time?

If you want to manually render out different sections of the same comp in After Effects you would have to:

  1. Add your comp to the render queue
  2. Open up the render settings
  3. Change the Start time & End time to the correct value
  4. Go back into your comp and add the next section
  5. Repeat steps 1 - 4 for every different section you need

Not only that, you would have to repeat this process every single time you want to render those sections out.

Renderly frees up the work area bar

The work area bar is constantly changing size in After Effects because it's used for seeing small RAM previews.

This means that when it comes time to render out the full section of work, the work area bar has to be manually updated to the right start and end time for the whole project.

With Renderly, you can create a render region for your whole project instead, completely freeing up the work area bar for your RAM previews. Not only that, it also means that you can add your full project to the render queue at the touch of a button without having to manually change the start and end time for every render you need.

Using the Marker Maker

Renderly has a built in marker maker so you can easily specify a new render region.

All you have to do is enter the start and end time for the region and hit the "Create Marker" button. The script will do the rest.
